Consumer Consequences: How big is your footprint?

So this is really cool… I recently came across this interactive game called Consumer Consequences that determines how many planet Earths would be required if every person lived the same lifestyle as you.  It was created by American Public Media and encompasses several areas of consumerism, from your home to travel and trash.

I totally dug this ‘game’ when I played it.  It was amazing to see what caused the number to rise and to what extent, showing firsthand what decisions have the largest environmental impact.

It would be cool to tally up some of the totals in the ‘leave a comment’ section below and discuss some of the the areas that shocked or pleased you the most… For starters, I got a score of 3.8, which means there would need to be almost four planets to sustain life if everyone lived like me.  A bit surprising, considering I try to make as many ‘green’ decisions as I can.
