I’m pretty excited folksies… and why might you ask? Cause I happen to be the Sprouter of the week!… The Twin Cities have a great new eco-resource in town called Sprout and it’s pretty much the cat’s pajamas… the Sprout site covers a lot of ground in a stylish package… its primary objective is to bridge the worlds of green retailers and savvy eco-shoppers, featuring promotions from local businesses. It also has an extensive directory of companies dedicated to sustainability, from restaurants and apparel to home builders and personal care suppliers… meow!!!

What makes me excited about this site more than other ‘green directories’ out there is that it is really interactive… users can create profiles and ‘compost’ ideas and eco-discoveries. You can also share and rate your experience at various establishments…. Did you have some tremendous smelt fries at the LEED Certified Red Stag Supperclub? Let everyone know so they can get in on the action! In a sense, Sprout is building off of the successes of Yelp, a national resource for rating retail experiences… this is great for a couple of reasons: 1.) You can quickly determine if an establishment is worth supporting, and 2.) it puts pressure on businesses to take customers’ opinions into play, driving them to continually improve.
I’ve also been digging on their blog, Sprout_was_here… it features polaroid snapshots of the Sprout card in various places around the cities with an ‘Amelie’ sorta vibe… pretty hipster!

So there you have it… if you’re a Twin Citian, take advantage of this great resource, create a profile, and help this puppy grow! The more people that use it, the more successful and beneficial it will be… oh, and a link to their site <HERE>
