It’s true… according to a recent report at Greenbiz.com, Ikea is in the process of investing a huge amount of money in Clean Tech startups. Within five years, $77 million will be put towards clean energy solutions with the aim of selling solar panels and other green tech products in stores…. Dad gum, that rocks!

Ikea has been pretty solid at incorporating eco-friendly strategies in their bottom line. About a year ago, they started charging customers a nickel for plastic bags and raised $300,000, which they donated to American Forests to plant trees. This upcoming October, they’ll take it step further and phase out plastic bags altogether.
Don’t expect to walk into your local Ikea to pick up a solar array in the near future. It is however a possibility in five years or so, and that’s exciting.
